There are a lot of restaurants with a unique backdrop but perhaps none quite like Go's Mart. Generally speaking would not expect a high end omakase in a nondescript and older strip mall but the adventure continues as then enter into an actual small market and walk all the way to the back where the the sushi is actually set up. This has to be one of the most unique locations as it feels more like a pop-up than established location. The service is minimalist but efficient. The chef is friendly if not talkative and will provide prompt instructions. There is a rather pricey bottle of shoyu (aka soy sauce) placed in front of you but was never utilized (some chefs do not mind if you use it but others are more particular almost as if a test). The chef tends to use gold flakes as his trademark but is for aesthetics vs taste. Highlights include the seared dishes as well as the uni and one of the last places which will offer high quality sweet shrimp and then ask if you would like to serve the head as part of a soup or fried like a cracker. Overall, a solid if not spectacular choice for omakase in perhaps one of the most hidden and off the beaten path spots.
What can one add to the plethora of raves here? This is a magical space that could only exist in the valley. Give yourself up to the kooky atmosphere that is akin to Meow Wolf's Omega Mart, and put your palate in the hands of this sushi master. Friendly, warm, dedicated service. A treat to be sure, but well worth it. Do yourself a favor and make that reservation!
5/5! Blind omakase and so good! I told them I don't like uni but he had me try his uni and it was SO good. The fish is fresh and it's a good spot for a true omakase. I kept forgetting to take pictures of it but it was also pretty presentation! Def would come back!
Always good food and friendly service. If you're looking for an Omakase experience different from the rest, with perfect bite-size portions, and an array of fresh fish and presentations, this little hole in the wall is the place to visit. Call ahead, as it's 'reservation only' seating vs walk-in, and be sure to ready yourself for an amazing experience.
Still love this place. I try to visit whenever I'm in town. These days I can afford to get the omakase every time, so we obviously get the omakase every time and eat until we are full. It'll prob come out to $400 per meal, but worth every penny. The sushi is consistently excellent.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Go's Mart, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Let me tell you, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary, especially for sushi lovers like myself. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the omakase experience. The skilled sushi chef at Go's Mart showcased his expertise and artistry as he crafted each piece with meticulous precision. Every bite was a revelation, with the freshest, highest quality ingredients meticulously selected for their flavor and texture. The chef's attention to detail was evident in every dish, making it a true culinary journey. The attention to detail extended beyond the food itself. The presentation was elegant, with each dish thoughtfully arranged and visually appealing. Go's Mart is truly a hidden gem that deserves recognition. If you're a sushi lover seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure, I highly recommend indulging in their omakase experience. Prepare to be transported to a world of exquisite flavors, where every bite is a work of art.
go to go's. best sushi in Los Angeles. Been coming for a decade! all fish flown in for freshness. And o-San and Oscar are the funniest duo! much love to this place.
Driving past, you wouldn't ever expect food of this quality from this place. Tiny place in a shopping plaza with unassuming signage, and even as you walk in, you're met with just a few plain tables, some storage refrigerators, a few plain decorations on the wall, and an office desk. Something you'd expect to see at a mom and pop local...mart. Hence the name. If you're expecting a fancily decorated Japanese restaurant, you'll be disappointed, but that's not what we're here for. We're here for food. Once the meal starts, you're treated to some of the most amazing selection of fish, beef, and other various delicacies from the ocean. The chef goes through each dish, explaining what it is and where it came from. You get to see the torch cook the beef, and see the chef adorning his many dishes in great detail. Care and attention is paid to every dish that was created. The spinach was perfect. The quality of fish was very high. I encountered seafood I never thought existed. Then to top it off with a perfectly sized dessert. For omakase, the price is extremely reasonable as well. I would give this place 6/5 if I could.
Where shall I begin? First off, I have been advised to visit Go's Mart, but never made the time to book a reservation. Highly recommend all to call-in a reserve a date/time at the soonest. Go's Mart is a hidden gem of the valley and you can taste the quality in their selection of fish. The restaurant is located in the shopping center across the street from Ralph's and next to Papa John's. Plenty of parking, so need to stress about arriving early to find an available space. As for Master Chef, Go, he's incredible! Great service from start till end. We decided to go with the chef's omakase and we were not disappointed. It actually opened our minds and taste buds to what top quality sushi should taste like. Do yourself the favor and make a reservation.
